Just in case anyone was wondering what was going on around here tonight....there was a lady knocking on doors on Pizer street around midnight tonight.

She knocked on our door and I looked through the peep-hole. She said she was running from her husband who was after her and she was 8 months pregnant. I told her I was NOT going to open the door but for her to call 911, she had a cell phone. She said she already did. I told here I could not help her, 'cause I protect my kiddos first, but that if she went to the park I would call 911 for her. But she kept going down Pizer knocking on doors!

She started to freak my neighbors out. So I called non-emergency to come patrol. About 4 minutes later she came back to our neighbors and our house and that's when we called 911.

The were here in less that 2 minutes. Three patrol calls found her and talked to her and drove away with her. We got to stop the last patrol car and asked what the deal was and the cop told us the story she gave THEM was that she was homeless and looking for help.

We told him she told us someone was after her. The cop said that even if she was looking for money that knocking on doors at midnight was bad in itself. We thought lying with a story like that was a bad way to get "help", but a good way to scare someone and get shot. Not by me...but I'm just saying...what was she thinking!?

So I am sure she won't be back. Never had anything happen like that the whole time we've been here. But just remember the basic rules of safety:

You look out your peep holes before you open doors. Don't be afraid to ask questions or say 'NO'.

Keep your doors and gates locked.

Call patrol, even when you are NOT sure and just have the feeling something is NOT right.

Talk to your neighbors. Several of us called 911 when she came back the second time...given the story she gave us!

We were watching out the window after the first time she knocked to see where she went. And lo and behold she came back. So it's good to keep an eye out too. Peek out your blinds every once and a while if you keep them shut all the time.

Everything little bit we can do helps out the entire neighborhood!

Thanks neighbors for being such watchful, outspoken, trusting neighbors, and for your support!

Izzy

She knocked on my door too around 11:45. I didn't even bother to go downstairs to answer the door. I just looked out the window and saw her walk away. I figured she was homeless or had other 'issues'.
Never a dull moment in the 'hood!

Dennis,

The 911 lady asked me if she had mental issues? I was thinking, "Now how would I know that???" But afterward I was thinking "Obviously...she does!!!"

Never a dull moment is right! :)
